Alvarez Martinez, Andrea

Was born in Vigo in 1987. She began playing the clarinet at the age of eight in Banda-Escola de Música de Beade with Rosa María Campos. She studied her Bachelor in the Vigo Superior Conservatory with Roberto Noche, finishing with Cum Laude. In 2008 and 2009 she completed two postgraduates organized by Zaragoza Conservatory and ESMuC (Barcelona) taking classes with international soloists like Wenzel Fuchs, Fabrizio Meloni and Joan Enric Lluna. From 2009 until 2011 she was student in the Academy of Orchestral Studies of the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville where she studied with Matthias Glander.

She was awarded with an scholarship from the JONDE-BBVA Foundation to study in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she finished her Master with the teacher Arno Piters in 2013.

She has received master classes from Arno Piters, Vicente Alberola Anthony Pay, Yehuda Gilad, Walter Boeykens, Antonio Saiote, Carles Riera, Davide Bandieri, Isaac Rodríguez,César Mart ín and the clarinet quartet Vienna Clarinet Connection.

In 2004 she won the Young Performers Contest organized in Vigo.

Professionally, she has collaborated with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia. She has toured with several youth orchestras including Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Spanish Youth Orchestra, Netherlands Youth Orchestra, Iberoamerican Youth Orchestra, Galician Youth Orchestra and Presjovem Orchestra. Currently she is part of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra academy for the 2013-2014 season.
